Using synthetic biology in extreme environments

Jay Bevington, the restless Visiting Scholar at our lab, has once again decided to test the limits of his abilities. This time Jay has set his sights on trying to use synthetic biology in extreme environments. Think that doing science in a regular lab makes for a difficult task? That apparently was not enough of a challenge for Jay. He looks at how one can use the tools of synthetic biology to help engineer new biological systems in situ in various extreme environments with limited resources.

But Jay is not alone in his endeavor; he is well supported by various members of the Tullman-Ercek lab, which includes Danielle, Han Teng, Lisa, Min and Zachary. Behind every successful scientist is a bevy of more scientists.
