Ekta is a Postdoctoral fellow in Materials Science and Engineering. She received the CSB postdoctoral fellowship. She is a plant biologist specialising in plant biochemistry. She did her PhD in from Indian Statistical Institute registered under Jadavpur University. She specialises in identifying the role of plant bioactives as plant signalling compounds. She has joined the Tullman-Ercek Lab as a part of SmartSense project. This project aims at developing Smart precision agriculture tools. She is working on developing a biocompatible, biosensor-based urease inhibitor delivery system that would have a more regulated and targeted application thus, reducing the harmful effects of overuse of chemical fertilizers.
